TangierTaxi Review

Normally, getting around in Morocco is a stressful experience for us. Unless you take the plane (which is extremely expensive), travelling from city to city is usually easier said than done. I’m writing this review of TangierTaxi to share my opinion and experience with this company.

We were recommended by a friend to use TangierTaxi on our second trip to Morocco. Their website looked professional, and the prices seemed fair for what they were offering, so we decided to use them on a day trip from Tangier to Chefchaouen.

Our driver was called Abdo and spoke great English. He arrived at our hotel about 20 minutes early which was a bit inconvenient as we weren’t ready, but he told us to take our time and he would wait for us. Since our hotel was in the medina and inaccessible by car, Abdo walked us to where he parked which was only a 5 minute walk away.

The vehicle was new and clean. I don’t know the exact model or age, but it can’t have been more than 2 years old. Although we were only 2 passengers, the vehicle was massive and could easily have accommodated 8 passengers. I imagine that the other vehicles were being used by other customers, so I think we were quite lucky to get the vehicle upgrade.

Abdo was extremely friendly and knowledgable. He told us stories and interesting facts about the little villages we passed through. The journey from Tangier to Chefchaouen is quite mountainous, so we appreciated that he drove slowly and safely. He was also happy to stop for us to take photos.

Upon arrival in Chefchaouen, he dropped us off at the town centre. We decided to opt out of the official guide because we wanted to explore on our own. At this point we left Abdo and explored the town. Chefchaouen is really worth visiting by the way.

In total we spent about 4 hours in the town. We had lunch and saw the main sights. Once we’d finished, we met Abdo at the meeting point and began the journey back.

I’m writing this review of TangierTaxi because while there are a few positive reviews about them online, I don’t think they get the attention they deserve. Too many people book through websites like Viator which charge far too much and offer a below average service (speaking from experience). I hope this review of TangierTaxi helps to increase awareness about their company because there is a real lack of companies in Morocco that genuinely care about their customers.
